Hot Times

ANNOUNCEMENT: We are not dead.

(If you remember last summer, we have this tendency to either over indulge in alllllllll the activities OR sit around pantsless….I’ll let your wild imagination decide.)

When I’m REALLY hot there are only three things I like to do. Go crazy on iced coffee, ban bras, and not blog. Obviously.

It’s been hot. Really hot. If you are like me and live in a super charming old row house complete with killer old school details that include no AC and also the inability to install a window unit because you (just HAD to) live in the historic district….andddd you are also unable to buy a non-window unit because you just don’t care enough… well then you might be hot too.

I’m not here to resume blogging at an acceptable frequency, but I am here to tell you that if you are looking for iced coffee, Sweet Sues is where it’s at. A couple weeks ago I was in the shop chatting up Sweet Sue and having an iced coffee that she made from a Keurig pod. This was cold, and caffeinated, but wasn’t really strong and came “lightly” sweetened, which in America usually means diabetes is near. Also, those pods are not cheap. So we were talking about different alternatives for her iced coffee biz, and decided that the only thing iced coffee really has to be is COLD and STRONG. I remembered my favorite iced coffee from years ago that I used to pick up every morning from a place in my old neighborhood in Albany (Scratch). This coffee was nothing spectacular, but stole away everyone’s hearts with one simple value add. COFFEE. ICE. CUBES. So Sue and I chat about this, and a few days later I pop back in and there it was.

Dreams DO come true!

A) This is why Troy is amazing.

B) Go get your coffee ice cubes before it cools down to 85.

I’m gonna continue summer lovin, touchin, squeezin, playing and all that….but before I go:

1) Lucas patio is amazing…sparkling Rose and sparkling Malbec are the new heaven. Have you tried? I personally was not a fan of ANY pink wine ever until this….

2) Rocking on the River….. I want to like it. I really do. Hopefully the move to the park will offer a slightly different vibe. (I saw a kid wearing a diaper in a tree 2 weeks ago and am still scared.)

3) Someone jumped into the river from the Dinosaur patio…..anyone know who this was? I haven’t seen CMAXBY in weeks…….helllllo?

POST BY Jessica
There was a void in her life. A spicy, meaty void . And the desire to fill that void led her across the river from Albany, to Troy, NY. It was there that she finally found it. Jamaican Beef Patty perfection. And lots of it. Late at night, I Love NY Jamaican Beef patties fueled her shenanigans. During the day, the premade frozen beef patties at the 3rd St bodegas kept her energy up for back to back yoga sessions. Like the Bee Girl from the Blind Melon video, she finally found a place with people like her. Except she’s a ginger. And not chubby. Slowly, it dawned on her. Troy, NY was meant for her and she made the purchase that would ensure she could remain, pockets filled with spiced meat encased in preservative laden dough: white curtains to put in her windows so as not to run afoul of the Troy Historic District’s guidelines. She could breathe easy. This was home. *****************************************************************************************************
